It's oh so quiet ... shhh

There is absolutely nothing going on here! Kids are good. Haven't gone anywhere. Haven't done anything interesting. It's just really quiet and relaxed. Neat, huh?

This is really interesting.

We're fine, we're all fine here ...

Surviving being alone with two thirds of the kids. Somehow it makes a big difference when there is one missing. However, it's amazing that just two kids can still find things to constantly fight about. It drives me crazy!
I made 'leftover stew' for supper. The kids hate it. I also made garlic toast. The kids love it. Somehow when you mix the after taste of garlic toast with the after taste of diet dr pepper, it tastes like mj! Weird.
Speaking of weird, I took the kids to see Willy Wonka with Johnny Depp on Saturday. Very funny. The story line is a bit different from the old one, but the movie is just as good. Plus - it's Johnny Depp! How could it be bad? Definitely a keeper. Jill and Sarah loved it. Laura got scared every time something happened to the kids.
I just found out a few minutes ago that 8 of my relatives from Holland are in a hotel about 10 kms from my house right now. We'll be going out for dessert with them later this evening. Can't imagine how they'll stay awake though, it's 8 hours later for them which would make it 2:20 am right now. Nuts. It'll be great to see them again!

They're coming to get me!

Just had a Jehovah's Witness at the door. Scripture quoted and everything. Smile and nod. "Come back when my husband is home, he'll love talking to you!" The woman was completely flabbergasted that I was married, and then she just about fell over when I told her I had three kids. Then I found out she's the same age as me. I love looking young.

I'm off to a baby shower today. I love babies. They are so cute. Especially the brand new ones. Even their crying doesn't bother me! Makes me think for just a crumb of a millisecond about having another one. (I squash those thoughts as fast as I can; I've had enough babies.)
Clint should be returning from Vernon this evening. Then he's off to Georgia. Crazy travelling man. Someday he'll stay home. ;-)
Sarah called me last night, crying. She's homesick already! Homesick! I have only been homesick once; I was in Holland with Sarah, 7 months pregnant with Jillian and my Mom was being really hard on me for being tired (b-tch). I didn't know what to say to Sarah to cheer her up. Poor little munchkin. I just wanted to give her a big hug. I am sure that soon she'll be too busy doing cool things with her Grandma to notice she misses us.

Wow what a week!

We left on the 5th for Rathtrevor Beach where we had reserved a walk-in campsite. Same place we went last year. We stayed overnight in Kamloops along the way at a very nice Travelodge hotel. Off for the Island again the next morning. It took all day. The girls loved riding the ferry. It was almost bedtime by the time we set up our beast of a tent.
On Thursday we drove to Tofino. The road was terrible and fun at the same time. Take the 'fun 14', make it much longer and more curvy and add a few more hills and valleys. Put trees right at the edge of the road and throw in a ton of potholes and rough patches for good measure. I actually got carsick! I haven't been carsick since I was about 8. Tofino was stunning. The most beautiful place I have ever been. Definitely worth another visit! We also stopped at long beach on our way back.
Darren joined us on Saturday morning. Dave ... I mean Reverend Naked Dave joined us on Sunday morning, Matt and Joy on Sunday evening. Lots of drinks and "snacks" to be had. Sorry Darren, I never did go skinny dipping. Call me chicken.
Darren left on Monday, Matt and Joy on Tuesday after a wild round of mini-golf. Wednesday provided us with our first rain-free day, and it was absolutely beautiful! Clint did his usual trench digging and castle building. It's fun to watch the tide come in around that.
Thursday (yesterday) we left the campground around 9:30 and headed straight home. We got here at 1:30 am.
And now ... Clint is driving Sarah to Vernon for a two-week stay with her grandparents.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my shape to keep.
Please no wrinkles, please no bags
And please lift my butt before it sags.
Please no age spots
Please no grey
And as for my belly,
Please take it away.
Please keep me healthy
Please keep me young,
And thank you dear Lord
For all that you've done.

Thanks Michael. It's cute.

Good lord they're a bunch of hooligans!

Well we're back from camping trip #2. Short rest before taking off for trip #3.

What a weekend! Read Clint's description. It will shock and amaze you. My description? It rained. It was sunny. There were no wasps. A few mosquitos though. The first half of the weekend was rowdy. The second half tranquil. Awesome hiking around part of a lake and out to a waterfall. Lots of pictures, flirting, dirty talk and plenty of "oh derka derka. mohammed jihad" "matt damon!" and "I'm so ronery". Not so much swearing though (unusual considering the amount of alcohol consumed by all). Emotional outbursts made by nearly everyone. We broke a bunch of rules of camping ... watched Lord of the Rings on a DVD player in someone's truck. Played loud music. Drove a loud (think chainsaw) RC car around. Set off car alarms accidentally at midnight.
Half of us stopped at Calaway Park on the way home. We acted like teenagers ... screamed on the roller coaster and got wired on cotton candy. I managed to win a red frog at a ker-plunk type of game. It is now the vehicle 'mascot'.
And now we're at home. Preparing for the next camping trip. With the kids this time ... which *should* force us to behave. I'm looking forward to it.
